Did you know suicide among Indigenous Australians is up to 40%* higher than in the general Australian population? It’s also believed this figure is under reported.

Thank you

To everyone who created a handprint in the Make Your Mark campaign. This effort has enabled Lifeline to raise awareness of Indigenous Suicide Prevention in Australia and raise some funds too. Over 7,600 hands have been created so far.

If you would still like to create a hand we encourage you to do so and send on to your friends and family. By doing this you will be making your mark on this issue and providing Lifeline with a way of demonstrating public support when seeking additional funding for this issue.

How can I help now?

Raising awareness is a start, but to make a real difference we need further funding in order to implement a full Indigenous Outreach Program. This program is currently in development and Lifeline Australia is seeking corporate supporters who can fund the development of resources and the implementation of training and services in Indigenous communities.

Lifeline would like to acknowledge the support of Rugby League's One Community who sponsored this campaign in 2009 and donated a $1 match for each hand created. Lifeline continues to work with NRL clubs such as the Gold Coast Titans and Lifeline Ambassador Preston Campbell, to raise awareness of Indigenous suicide prevention and other mental health issues.
